American Heart Association CPR/AED Courses
Length of Course
All courses have the initial goals of learning or relearning the REAL purpose of CPR and the TRUTH about the prevention and the minute chances of further injury, future litigation and disease transmission.
 

American Heart Association BLS (CPR/AED/FA) Instructor Courses
This course is designed for those who are initial or renewal instructors and who want or continue to want to teach the courses below. Goals include learning and relearning AHA and SMSI course logistics, the principles of adult learning, successful scenario practice and proper manikin care and cleaning. Goals also include details from the healthcare provider (HCP) and the lay rescuer or heartsaver (HS) perspective regarding the areas of adult/child CPR/AED, infant CPR, adult/child/infant choking treatment, adult/child/infant BVM (bag-valve-mask) use and adult/child/infant barrier device use. Course time is two 6 hour days.

Minimal prerequisites include completing the online AHA Core Instructor Course and completing the AHA BLS for HCP CPR Course. Minimal preferences include having some solid clinical healthcare background.

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR Courses
This course is designed for those who are initial or renewal students, who are or will be professional rescuers, and/or who work in a hospital or the healthcare industry. Goals include learning or relearning adult/child CPR/AED, infant CPR, adult/child/infant choking treatment, adult/child/infant BVM (bag-valve-mask) use and adult/child/infant barrier device use.
Course time is 4-6 hours.
