NSC Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) 40hr Initial Course




​​This 40 hour course, formerly referred to as First Responder,

provides the necessary knowledge and skill to treat the variety of patients

and situations specific that any EMR could encounter generally

in a community or workplace setting.

- The Well-being of the EMR

- Legal and Ethical Issues such as Duty to Act and HIPPA

- The Human Body: Anatomy and Physiology of Body Systems

​- Airway Care and Breathing Emergencies

​- Ventilation Devices and Oxygen Administration

- Cardiac Emergencies

- Establishment of the Real Purpose of CPR

- Three Most Common Myths of CPR

- One and Two-Rescuer CPR/AED for All Ages

- Patient Assessment: Subjective and Objective Aspects

- Medical and Behavioral Emergencies

- Trauma and Environmental Emergencies

- Obstetric and Pediatric Emergencies

- Lifting and Moving Patients

- EMS Response and Operations

- Special Operations

- NIMS: Incident Management


​Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate will receive

their anticipated IDPH EMR Certification Card.
